In 1868, the parish of Killosolan contained the following places:

"KILLOSOLAN, (or Killasolain), a parish in the baronies of Kilconnell and Tiaquin, county Galway, Ireland, 28 miles N.E. of Galway. The parish is of large extent, and contains the villages of Castleblakeney and Caltra. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Ardagh, Elphin, and Kilmore, value £355, in the patronage of the crown and the bishop, alternately.

"CALTRA, a village in the parish of Killosolan, barony of Tiaquin, in the county of Galway, province of Connaught, Ireland, near Castle-Blakeney. Fairs are held on the 14th May, the 16th July, the 21st September, and the 14th December."

"CASTLEBLAKENEY, a village in the parish of Killosolan, and barony of Tiaquin, in the county of Galway, province of Connaught, Ireland, 30 miles to the E. of Galway, and 105 miles to the W. of Dublin. It has a police station, and four annual fairs are held on the 1st January, the 25th May, the 26th July, and the 2nd October. Abbert is the principal residence."

"PALLAS, a hamlet in the parish of Killosolan, in the barony of Kilconnell, county Galway, province of Connaught, Ireland, 2 miles from Castleblakeney. A monastery formerly stood here, founded by the Birminghams."
