In 1868, the parish of Cloghane contained the following places:

"CLOGHANE, (or Clahane), a parish in the barony of Corkaguiney, in the county of Kerry, province of Munster, Ireland, 8 miles from Dingle, its post town, and 13 S.W. of Tralee. It lies within a short distance of Brandon Bay, and contains the villages of Cloghane and Ballyquin. The surface is boggy and mountainous, partly forming the wall of the bay. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Limerick, Ardfert, and Aghadoe, value £146, in the patronage of the bishop. The church is of modern date, built by the late Board of First Fruits. Here is a Roman Catholic chapel Brandon Lodge is the principal residence.

"BALLYQUIN, a village in the parish of Cloghane, barony of Corkaguiny, in the county of Kerry, province of Munster, Ireland, 6 miles to the N. of Dingle. It is near the coast of Brandon Bay."

"BRANDON, a village in the parish of Cloghane, barony of Corkaguiney, in the county of Kerry, province of Munster, Ireland, 20 miles to the W. of Tralee. It is seated on the coast of Brandon Bay, near the headland bearing the same name. The Crosbie family took the title of baron from this place."
