The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Kilrainy contained the following places:

"KILRAINY, (or Kilrenny), a parish in the barony of Carbury, county Kildare, province of Munster, Ireland, 4 miles N.N.W. of Castle Carbury. Edenderry is its post town. It is 2½ miles long by 1½ mile broad, and is crossed by the road from Dublin to Galway. The living is a suspended rectory in the diocese of Kildare, in the patronage of the bishop. Kilrainy House and Kilglass House are the chief residences.
