In 1868, the parish of Knavinstown contained the following places:

"KNAVINSTOWN, a parish in the barony of West Offaly, county Kildare, province of Leinster, Ireland, 3 miles W.N.W. of Kildare. Monastereven is its post town. The parish is about 1 mile in length, and the same in breadth. It is situated on the bank of the Grand canal. The living is a suspended vicarage in the diocese of Kildare, in the patronage of the bishop. Knavinstown House and demesne occupy a considerable part of the parish.
