The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Usk contained the following places:

"USK, a parish in the barony of East Narragh, county Kildare, province of Leinster, Ireland, 6 miles S. of Kilcullen. The surface is traversed by the, road from Kilcullen to Baltinglass. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Dublin, value with Dunlavin, £447, in the patronage of the archbishop. It is united to Narraghmore in the Roman Catholic division. There are ruins of a castle and a burial-place. Some fighting occurred here in 1798. Fairs are held on the Thursday before 12th May, and the first Thursday and Friday in October.
