In 1868, the parish of Gaulskill contained the following places:

"GAULSKILL, a parish in the barony of Ida, county Kilkenny, province of Leinster, Ireland, 3 miles N. of Waterford, its post town, on the road from thence to Thomastown. The surface is undulating, and there are about 100 acres of lake. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Ossory, value with Dunkitt, £436, in the patronage of the crown. The church was erected in 1792 by the late Board of First Fruits. It is part of the Roman Catholic district of Kilmacow. Here is an ancient castle supposed to have belonged to the De Burghs."
