The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Kildellig contained the following places:

"KILDELLIG, a parish in the barony of Clarmallagh, Queen's County, province of Leinster, Ireland, 3 miles N. of Rathdowney, its post town. It is 2 miles long by 1 mile broad. The soil is generally good. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Ossory, in the patronage of the bishop. There is a day-school. Near the village is the site of a monastery which was destroyed by the Danes in 885."
