The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Moyanna contained the following places:

"MOYANNA, a parish in the barony of Stradbally, Queen's County, province of Leicester, Ireland, 3 miles N.N.E. of Stradbally. It is 3½ miles long, and its greatest breadth is 3 miles. The surface lies along the banks of the Grand canal and the river Barrow. The road from Monastereven to Stradbally crosses the parish. The soil is mostly a light sandy mould. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Leighlin, value with Stradbally, £190. There are one or two daily schools. Moyanna House is the chief seat of the neighbourhood."
