The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Clonelty contained the following places:

"CLONELTY, a parish in the barony of Glenquis, in the county of Limerick, province of Munster, Ireland, 3 miles to the E. of Newcastle. It contains the village of Knockaderry. The soil is good, disposed in pasture and arable. The river Deel passes along the northern boundary. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Limerick, value with Clonea, £134, in the patronage of the Vicars Choral of Limerick Cathedral. This parish has no church. There are Roman Catholic chapels at Knockaderry and Cloncah, and three schools. Ruins of a castle and of the church still remain."

"KNOCKADERRY, a village in the parish of Clonelty, barony of Glenquin, county Limerick, province of Munster, Ireland, 4 miles E.N.E. of Newcastle. It is situated on the road from Newcastle to Ballingarry. There is a dispensary, which is within the Newcastle Poor-law Union. Knockaderry House is in the vicinity. Fairs are held on the 28th May, 9th September, 29th October, and 19th December."
