The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Iveruss contained the following places:

"IVERUSS, (or Iverossa), a parish in the barony of Kenry, county Limerick, province of Munster, Ireland, 3 miles N. of Askeaton, its post town. It is situated at the mouth of the Shannon, where the Deel joins that river. The parish is 1½ mile long by 1 broad. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Limerick, value with Askeaton, £336. The parish schoolhouse serves for the performance of Divine service. The Roman Catholic chapel is united to that of Askeaton. There are ruins of a church founded by Iverus, a Dane who encamped here during his sail up the Shannon to Limerick in 824, also ruins of Beigh Castle and some Danish fortifications.
