In 1868, the parish of Agharra contained the following places:

"AGHARRA, (or Ahara) a parish in the barony of Shrule, in the county of Longford, province of Leinster, Ireland, 5 miles to the N.E. of Ballymahon. It is near the royal canal, and has some tracts of bog. The living is a vicarage united with the rectory of Kilglass, in the diocese of Kilmore, Ardah, and Elphin.
