The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Marlestown contained the following places:

"MARLESTOWN, a parish in the barony of Ferrard, county Louth, province of Leinster, Ireland, 5 miles N. of Drogheda. Dunleer is its post town. It is 1½ mile long by 1 broad. A considerable portion of the surface is occupied by Rokeby Hall, the demesne of Sir R. Robinson. The remaining parts consist of good land. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Armagh, value with Dunany, £116. There is a hedge-school.
