The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Kilcommon contained the following places:

"KILCOMMON, a parish in the barony of Kilmaine, county Mayo, province of Connaught, Ireland, containing Hollymount, its post town. It is 4 miles long by 2 broad. The surface is very varied, but includes a fair proportion of good soil. It is drained by the river Robe. The road from Dublin to Westport traverses the parish. The living (also called Hollymount) is a rectory in the diocese of Tuam, value with two others, £515, in the patronage of the bishop. The church, which is situated without the parochial limits, was repaired in 1818 by a loan from the late Board of First Fruits. Here are two Roman Catholic chapels and eight day schools. Hollymount House and Annfield are among the principal residences."

"HOLLYMOUNT, a post-office village in the parish of Kilcommon, , in the barony of Kilmaine, county Mayo, province of Connaught, Ireland, 16 miles S. of Castlebar, and 159 from Dublin. It stands on the banks of the river Robe and the road from Dublin to Westport. It contains a police station, parish church, and schoolhouse. Here is a dispensary within the Ballinrobe Poor-law Union. Petty sessions are held in the village. Hollymount, Clooncormac, Bloomfield, and Lehinch, are the neighbouring seats."
