The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Tagheen contained the following places:

"TAGHEEN, a parish in the barony of Clanmorris, county Mayo, province of Connaught, Ireland, 3 miles W. of Clare. Hollymount is its post town. It lies along the river Robe, and consists of a good soil, including some bog. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Tuam, value with Hollymount £515, in the patronage of the bishop. The Roman Catholic chapel is united to that of Crossboyne. There are two private schools. Holybrook is the principal residence.
