The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Assey contained the following places:

"ASSEY, (or Athsey), a parish in the barony of Lower Deece, in the county of Meath, province of Leinster, Ireland, 4 miles to the S. of Navan. It is situated in a fertile district on the river Boyne. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Meath, value, with the rectory of Balsoon, £116, in the patronage of the crown. The church is in decay.
