The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Drakestown contained the following places:

"DRAKESTOWN, a parish in the barony of Morgallion, in the county of Meath, province of Leinster, Ireland, 6 miles N.E. of Kells. It is situated on the road from Navan, its post town, to Kingscourt. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Meath, in the patronage of the crown and bishop alternately. There is a Roman Catholic chapel at Castletown, where is also the parish church. There are two or three day schools."
