The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Killyon contained the following places:

"KILLYON, a parish in the barony of Upper Moyfenrath, county Meath, province of Leinster, Ireland, 8 miles N.W. of Innfield. Clonard is its post town. It is 3 miles long by 1 mile broad, and extends along the W. bank of the river Boyne. The Royal canal touches it on the S., and the road from Trim to Kinnegad traverses the interior. The soil varies much in quality. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Meath, value with Clonard, £230, in the patronage of the bishop. The Roman Catholic chapel is united to that of Longwood. There is a hedge-school. Killyon House is the chief residence."
