The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Loughcrew contained the following places:

"LOUGHCREW, a parish in the barony of Fore, county Meath, province of Leinster, Ireland, 3 miles S.E. of Oldcastle, which is its post town. The parish is 4 miles long, and its average breadth is 1½ mile. The surface consists of a good soil, and includes a considerable amount of woodland. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Meath, value with others, £347, in the patronage of the crown. The church is ancient. Here are a Roman Catholic chapel, also National and day schools. Loughcrew House is a very attractive feature of the locality, occupying an elevated site. At Newton Hill large stone is seen, supposed to be of Druidical origin."

"MILLBROOK, a hamlet in the parish of Loughcrew, barony of Fore, county Meath, province of Leinster, Ireland, 1 mile S.W. of Oldcastle. Millbrook House is the principal seat."
