In 1868, the parish of Moynalty contained the following places:

"MOYNALTY, a parish and post-office village in the barony of Lower Kells, county Meath, province of Leinster, Ireland, 17 miles N. of Trim, and 43 from Dublin. The parish is 5½ miles in length, and its greatest breadth is 3 miles. The western portion is drained by the river Moynalty. The soil varies in quality. The interior is traversed by the roads from Kells to Kingscourt, and from Dublin to Bailieborough. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Meath, value £438, in the patronage of the crown. The church was built by means of a loan from the late Board of First Fruits in 1819. The Roman Catholic chapel is united to that of Newcastle. There are National and other day schools. Moynalty Lodge is the principal residence. Here is a dispensary within the Kells Poor-law Union. Petty sessions are held every fortnight."
