The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Teltown contained the following places:

"TELTOWN, (or Killalton), a parish in the barony of Upper Kells, county Meath, province of Leinster, Ireland, 2 miles E.S.E. of Kells, its post town. The surface consists of first-rate pasture lands with a little bog. It is traversed by the rivers Blackwater and Carlanstown, or Rosmin, and by the road from Dublin to Enniskillen. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Meath, value with Donaghpatrick £380. This place is said to have originated from a church founded here by St. Teallean. In the Roman Catholic arrangement the parish is united to Kilberry and Teltown, and has a chapel at Oristown. Here is an ancient place of burial, also two Roman Catholic schools. The principal residences are Teltown House and Hardlestown.
