The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Templekeeran contained the following places:

"TEMPLEKEERAN, a parish in the barony of Skreen, county Meath, province of Leinster, Ireland, 3 miles S.E: of Navan Tara, its post town. The soil is excellent. The parish, which lies near the course of the river Boyne, is traversed by the road from Dublin to Enniskillen. The living is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of Meath, value with Skreen £507, in the patronage of the crown. The church was erected in 1811 partly by means of a loan from the late Board of First Fruits. In the Roman Catholic arrangement this parish is united to that of Skreen.
