This was the site of the original Catholic Chapel, later replaced by a chapel in Charlestown, and later again by St Brigid in the centre of Clara. The old chapel was in ruins by the 1840s, but the graveyard is still in use today, and known as the Monastery Graveyard, after the adjacent monastery.
