The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Letterluna contained the following places:

"LETTERLUNA, (or Litter), a parish in the barony of Ballybritt, King's County, province of Leinster, Ireland, 2 miles N.E. of Kinnetty, containing the village of Cadamstown. The parish is 4 miles long, and its average breadth about 2 miles. The surface is very mountainous, comprising Black Gap and the Spink Mountain summits, which attain respectively the heights of 1,602 and 1,087 feet. The roads from Clonaslea to Roscrea, and from Mountrath to Frankford, traverse through the interior. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Killaloe, value with Kinnetty, £231, in the patronage of the bishop. There are a Roman Catholic chapel and two day schools.
