The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Lusmagh contained the following places:

"LUSMAGH, (or Kilmacunna), a parish in the barony of Garrycastle, King's County, province of Leinster, Ireland, 2 miles S.W. of Banagher. Eyrecourt is its post town. It is 4 miles long by 3 broad. It is bounded on the W. by the river Shannon, and the Little Brosna traces the southern border. The surface is flat and boggy. The village of Newtown is in this parish The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Clonfert, value with Donanaughta, £300, in the patronage of the bishop. Here is a Roman Catholic chapel, also two hedge-schools. Cloghan is an old seat of the Madden family.
