In 1868, the parish of Kilmacumsy contained the following places:

"KILMACUMSY, a parish in the barony of Frenchpark, county Roscommon, province Connaught, Ireland, 1 mile N.W. of Elphin, its post town. It is 3 miles Ion, by 2 broad. The soil is mostly good. The interior is traversed by the road from Boyle to Tulsk. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Elphin, value with Ardclare, £162, in the patronage of the bishop. There are two hedge-schools."
