The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Killerry contained the following places:

"KILLERRY, a parish in the barony of Tirerrill, county Sligo, province of Connaught, Ireland, 5 miles E.N.E. of Collooney, its post town. The parish is near 4 miles long by 3 broad, and contains the village of Ballintogher. It has a small detached district. The surface is mountainous, containing the Slishcarrow hills in the N.; loughs Gill and Lumman are partly within the limits. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Ardagh, value £145, in the patronage of the bishop. The church was erected in 1715. There are four day schools, and a Roman Catholic chapel. Castle Neynoe is the chief seat. Drumcondra and another old castle are within the parish.

"BALLINTOGHER, a village in the parish of Killerry and barony of Tiraghrill, in the county of Sligo, province of Connaught, Ireland, 6 miles to the S.E. of Sligo. A police station is established here, and fairs are held in January, June, July, October, and December."

"GURTLOWNEEN, a village in the parish of Killerry, barony of Tirerill, county Sligo, province of Connaught, Ireland, a short distance from Collooney."
