The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Mortlestown contained the following places:

"MORTLESTOWN, a parish in the barony of West Iffa and Offa, county Tipperary, province of Munster, Ireland, 3 miles N.E. of Cahir, its post town. It is 3½ miles long, and about 1 mile broad. The soil is good. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Lismore, value with Oughteragh, £209, in the patronage of the bishop. Ruins of the church are seen, likewise of three castles."
