The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Temple Etney contained the following places:

"TEMPLE ETNEY, a parish in the barony of East Iffa, county Tipperary, province of Munster, Ireland, 6 miles E.N.E. of Clonmell. The Slievenaman mountains are partly within its limits. The living is a vicarage united to Kilcash (which see). Griaque is the principal residence.

"BALLYPOREEN, a village in the parish of Temple Etney, barony of Iffa and Offa, in the county of Tipperary, province of Munster, Ireland, 13 miles to the S. of Tipperary. In the village are the parish church, the Roman Catholic chapel, a police station, and a dispensary. Fairs are held in May, August, and December."

"CARRIGVISTAIL, a village in the parish of Temple Etney, barony of West Iffa and Offa, in the county of Tipperary, province of Munster, Ireland."
