The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Rathmacknee contained the following places:

"RATHMACKNEE, a parish in the barony of Forth, county Wexford, province of Leinster, Ireland, 4 miles S.W. of Wexford, its post town. The parish is crossed by the road from Wexford to Kilmore. The living is a rectory and vicarage in the diocese of Ferns, value £123. The church is in the later English style, built in 1813 by means of a gift from the late Board of First Fruits. The Roman Catholic chapel is the head of a district called Piercestown. There is a school supported by private charity, also remains of a castle in very good preservation. Limestone is quarried."
