In 1868, the parish of Knockrath contained the following places:

"KNOCKRATH, a parish in the baronies of North and South Ballinacor, county Wicklow, province of Leinster, Ireland, 3 miles N.W. of Rathdrum, its post town. The parish is of large extent. The surface is mountainous, and possesses much fine scenery. The living is united with that of Rathdrum. There is a Roman Catholic chapel. In Clara Vale are the remains of an old castle."

"CLARABEG, a demesne near the town of Rathdrum, in the parish of Knockrath, county of Wicklow, province of Leinster, Ireland. It joins Ballygannon near the Vale of Clara."
