Ths is perhaps the third parish church in North Berwick - "The church at the harbour was in use until the year 1656. Its successor on the south side of High Street was not completed until 1664. That church was apparently rebuilt at the end of the eighteenth century, but now lies in ruins, and its successor in turn was erected in 1882. It serves the burgh today.
Information from ‘Historic North Berwick: The Archaeological Implications of Development’ (1981)."
In 1989, the former Free Church was closed, and the congregation merged with St Andrew's. (At this point North Berwick had 3 Church of Scotland churches, following the reunification of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church of Scotland in 1929).
OPRs (Old Parish Registers) are available from 1653 (Births and Marriages), and 1662 (Deaths). Deaths however are missing between 1685 and 1792.
Full details of the gaps, issues with the records, etc, can be found on the NRS website.
