PEMBROKESHIRE PLACE NAMES

Hide

This listing has been produced from an index that has been constructed of (i) all the Pembrokeshire places and organizations named in A Topographical Dictionary of Wales (Lewis 1833 or 1844), (ii) all the Pembrokeshire nonconformist chapels and their locations named in The Parish Churches and Nonconformist Chapels of Wales, Vol 1 (Rawlins, 1987), and (iii) the (ancient) parish names as given in Cofresti Plwyf Cymru: Parish Registers of Wales (Williams and Watts-Williams, 1986). Places which are  obviously not local to a particular town or parish are not included but they are if their whereabouts are uncertain.

For each such name a link is provided to the page in GENUKI where more information is to be found about the Pembrokeshire town or parish in which the entry for the place or organization is situated. (Note: this page will not necessarily contain information about the place or organization itself, indeed the place might not even be physically  within that particular parish.)

Separate index entries are provided for each variant spelling of a name, together with an indication of the type of place or organization (chapel, church, farm, mine, parish, town, etc.) as indicated or implied by Lewis, Rawlings or Williams and Watts-Williams. (Where this cannot be determined the type is simply given as "place".)
