EGGESFORD, a parish in the hundred of NORTH TAWTON with WINKLEY,county of DEVON, 2½ miles(S.) from Chulmleigh, containing 144 inhabitants. Theliving is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry ofBarnstaple, and diocese of Essex, rated in the kingsbooks at £7. 18. 9., endowed with £200 private benefaction,and £200 royal bounty, and in the patronageof the Hon. Newton Fellowes. Here was formerly anhospital founded by Ibote Reigny.
