- "LIDBROOK, a hamlet in the parish of English-Bicknor, hundred of St. Briavel's, county Gloucester, 4 miles S.W. of Mitcheldean. It is situated near the river Wye, and has some tin and iron work, said to have been the first established in the kingdom. There is a place of worship for Baptists. Coal and timber are brought from the Forest of Dean by tram railways, which run down to Newnham and Lydney on the Severn."
