At first services were held at Reedley Lodge. In 1867 A small chapel was built at Lane Head which was replaced in 1895 by a new chapel built on Briercliffe Road at the corner of Melville Street. In 1996 the chapel closed, and amalgamated with Colne Road Methodists. In 1999 Elim Chapel was demolished, with plans to build a new church on the site and then to sell the church building on Colne Road In 2001 the new chapel opened called United Methodist Church.
