The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Templepeter contained the following places:

"TEMPLEPETER, a parish in the barony of Forth, county Carlow, province of Leinster, Ireland, 5 miles from Tullow. Leighlin Bridge is its post town. The parish is crossed by the road from Carlow to Fennagh, and by the river Burren. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Leighlin, value £48, in the patronage of the bishop. There is a Protestant church at Dunleckney. In the Roman Catholic arrangement this parish is united to that of Dunleckney. There is a private school. Granite is quarried. The ruins of the church still stand."
