In 1868, the parish of Killeany contained the following places:

"KILLEANY, a parish in the barony of Clare, county Galway, province of Connaught, Ireland, 2 miles S. of Headford, its post town. It is 2 miles long by 1 mile broad. The surface is rather boggy, but has some good arable land. It is traversed by the road from Headford to Armaghdown. Part of Lough Corrib is within the limits of the parish. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Tuam, value with Headford, £834, in the patronage of the bishop. The Roman Catholic chapel is united to that of Headford. There are two day schools."
