The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Cheriton contained the following places:

"CHERITON, a parish in the hundred of Swansea, in the county of Glamorgan, 12 miles W. of Swansea. It is situated near the confluence of the rivers Burry and Loughor. The living is a rectory in the diocese of St. David's, value £150, in the patronage of the Prince of Wales. The church, dedicated to St. Catwg, is an ancient edifice. Here are traces of Boville Castle."
