Description
Aveland is likely from the Old English Awell+land, meaning "land of springs and rivers". Ness is a Viking term for a headland or "neck" of land. In the 19th century, the Aveland and Ness Deanery, centered around Market Deeping, consisted of the following parishes in the south of Lincolnshire:
